He is known for his associations with the Romantic movement and credited by some as the creator of the vampire genre of fantasy fiction.

For all of that, it’s quite good, it just needs an extra layer of polish and a defter hand with words. They travel to Rome, but Aubrey leaves Lord Ruthven due to certain circumstances. I had a distant feeling of dislike and disgust for Lord Ruthven, which with more active, vivid writing could have been outright disgust.
